Add one cup of water to a saucepan and place it on the stove. Let it boil.
Once the water is boiling, add two tablespoons of black tea leaves and stir for about 30 seconds.
Add two cups of milk to the pot and stir.
Grate fresh root ginger using a grater or food processor and add it to the pot.
Add a cinnamon stick (Mdalasini) to the pot.
For added flavor, you can add spices like Basil leaves(Omujaaja), lemongrass(Kisubi), cloves, and other spices.
Let the mixture boil for 2-3 minutes.
Depending on your preferences, you can add sugar or honey.
Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes.
Remove the cinnamon sticks.
Serve hot with your favorite snack.
